Apple has been rumored to be working on a smart home hub for a couple of years, and a new leak suggests the device could launch this year with MagSafe-like magnets for wall mounting.

The leak comes from X user Kosutami, who says the device is internally called Apple HomePad. It’s unclear if Apple will stick with that name, but the product is expected to have an iPad-like display and act as a control hub for smart home devices.

Kosutami claims to have seen a HomePad prototype in person and says that it also includes doorbell integration. Earlier leaks have pointed to a front camera and support for video calls, so the latest claim does not appear to be far off. Other previously reported features include support for music as well as calendar and weather updates.

Though Kosutami mentioned a MagSafe-like “snap-to-wall” feature for the device, they didn’t clarify whether that’s how Apple plans to charge it.

Extensive Apple Intelligence integration is another feature tipped by Kosutami. According to MacRumors, this integration has significantly delayed the HomePad. Apple reportedly wanted to introduce it in 2025. but delays in Apple Intelligence upgrades pushed the product to early 2026 first, and now to fall 2026.

Apple has already unveiled several products this year. This week, it launches the iPhone 17e and the MacBook Neo and upgrades the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad Air. It also launched a second-generation AirTag in January.

Apple typically hosts an in-person event each fall to announce its latest iPhones. This year, the company is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. With Kosutami now suggesting a fall release for the HomePad, the device could debut at the same event.
