GUANGZHOU, China, Oct. 16. 2026 — The 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) opened today, marking its 70th anniversary. Running through Nov. 4. the milestone session welcomes global buyers and exhibitors to Guangzhou and showcases the latest in Chinese manufacturing, innovation and green trade.

To commemorate the occasion, the Canton Fair has released its 70th-anniversary buyer-themed documentary, Chasing the Light. Produced by Xufang International Media under China International Communications Group (CICG), the heartwarming film focuses on global buyers, chamber partners and technology entrepreneurs. Through four chapters—First Encounter, Trust, Co-Creation and Leap—it presents 70 years of transformation in Chinese manufacturing and global trade.

Organizers said the documentary reflects the fair’s enduring role in lighting up encounters across mountains and seas, linking China’s foreign trade with the world and helping it sail further. The 140th session continues to connect global sourcing networks and create shared opportunities for international business.

“Seventy years on, the light remains bright,” organizers said.

First held in 1957. the Canton Fair is China’s oldest and largest trade event. It remains a key platform for international buyers to source Made in China, meet new suppliers and explore market trends.
