Toronto dinner uses guest responses to create custom seating, introductions, visual maps and puzzles

On Thursday, August 13. Toronto designer, facilitator and data visualization artist Clarence Kitt will host a special queer edition of Map The Room, an intimate dinner experience designed around the 22 people attending.
Map The Room: Queer Banquet brings strangers together for a family-style feast at Konia Kitchen and Bar. Before the event, each guest completes a questionnaire about their experiences, interests and perspectives. Kitt uses those responses to personally shape the seating plan, introductions, visual maps, prompts, games and puzzles created for the room.
Ang Lee’s and Andrew Ahn’s versions of The Wedding Banquet helped set the mood for this edition, which will explore queer expression and connection through the experiences represented across one room.

Map The Room began in February 2026 and has hosted four full-capacity dinners. Its most recent edition was presented in collaboration with the Asian Queer Alliance. The independently produced series offers a friendship-focused alternative to large-scale social events and dating-oriented mixers, with every part of the experience created specifically for each group of guests.

Tickets: $68. plus an approximately $45 share of the meal settled at the table.
Guests are encouraged to register by noon on Sunday, August 9 to see more of their questionnaire responses reflected in the personalized materials created for the room. Registration will remain open after August 9 if spaces are still available, and later registrants will be incorporated wherever possible.
